Copper clad aluminium wire is produced with the production process of cladding welding drawing method. By cladding copper strip concentrically on the outer surface of the aluminium core, CCA wire combines the characteristics of both copper and aluminium: the low density of aluminium and the superior conductivity of copper. This bimetallic wire is suitable for most electrical applications where efficiency and weight are critical factors.
For more than a century, solid copper has been the choice for virtually all indoor wiring. However, with copper being a finite resource in high demand, it commands a premium price—often three to four times that of aluminum. Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA) addresses this economic challenge while overcoming the mechanical property defects of pure aluminum wire.
